Why is my website slow and how do I fix it?

The usual suspects, in order: unoptimized images, too much JavaScript, no caching and slow server responses. Measure with PageSpeed Insights before touching anything, fix the top item, measure again. Most sites get dramatically faster from three targeted fixes, not a rebuild.
